In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 30, 2022, a violent encounter at a Citgo gas station in Gary, Indiana, claimed the life of 32-year-old Diondray Gill. The Gary resident, a male, was at the station located at 4901 E. Melton Rd. when the shooting occurred. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Gill was transported to Methodist Northlake ER.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Gill succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His family was present to identify him.
The Lake County Coroner's Office later officially ruled his death a homicide. The incident was one of three homicides that weekend in Gary, prompting a public plea from law enforcement for any information that could lead to the capture of those responsible.
