On January 23, 2017, Carmelle Erbie Cajuste, aged 44, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Hammond, Indiana. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. in the 1300 block of Truman Street, where officers found Cajuste near the front door of a home with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The Lake County coroner's office confirmed her death at the scene.
