An argument that erupted in a motel room on the east side of Indianapolis on the night of April 13, 2017, ended in the shooting death of 18-year-old Lawrence Barnes. The incident occurred at the Shadeland Inn, where an altercation between two groups of men escalated into an exchange of gunfire. Barnes, an Indianapolis resident, was fatally wounded during the shootout. His identity was confirmed the following morning by the Marion County coroner's office.
