On the evening of September 30, 2017, a violent incident unfolded on the south side of Indianapolis, Indiana, claiming the life of 21-year-old Black male Christopher Bowman. At approximately 9:00 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the 2400 block of Dawson Street following reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered Bowman suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries, marking a tragic end to the night and adding his name to the city's list of homicide victims for that year.
Bowman was known to his friends and family as an energetic and intelligent young man who worked in the restaurant industry. He was a father to two children and was described by loved ones as fun-loving with a particular soft spot for the elderly.
