On a summer evening in Indianapolis, the life of 31-year-old Luis Mercado Perez was tragically cut short by gun violence. On Friday, August 27, 2021, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the northeast side of the city after reports of a person shot. Upon their arrival at an apartment complex in the area, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
