The teenager was fatally wounded in a shooting incident that occurred amidst a chaotic period for the city, which saw multiple individuals injured by gunfire over the holiday celebrations.
Reports from the time indicated that Snow was the sole fatality in a series of shootings that left at least seven other people wounded across the city during the Fourth of July timeframe.
Davion Snow was a young man with a promising future, having recently graduated from Lighthouse College Prep Academy. He was pursuing higher education as a sophomore at Purdue University Northwest at the time of his death. Known to his friends and family for his bright smile and ambitious spirit, his loss was deeply felt by his community. He was survived by his mother, Summer Snow, his grandmother, and several brothers, including Da'Von and Fredrick Snow.
Prior to his untimely death, Snow had been a witness to gun violence in his own home. In late 2016, he was present during a domestic disturbance involving a friend, Garrett DaVarris Smith, who fired shots into the Snow residence after being asked to leave, injuring Davion’s brother, Davon. While Smith was later convicted for that 2016 aggravated battery, no specific suspects or arrests were immediately reported in connection with the July 2017 shooting that ultimately took Davion's life, leaving the case as a tragic unsolved chapter for his grieving family.
