The incident unfolded at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the 3800 block of North Emerson Avenue, where officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Ghebremichael suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite receiving prompt medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an argument, although the specific nature of the dispute was not publicly disclosed.
