On September 20, 2017, 40-year-old Keith Williams was found deceased inside a residence in the 1000 block of Grant Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana. An investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department determined that Williams had been fatally shot the previous day. There were no initial signs of forced entry into the home. He was a Black male.
In November 2017, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of 19-year-old Christopher Reed in
connection with the murder of Williams. Reed was subsequently charged with murder. However, following a trial, he was found not guilty on June 28, 2019.
The investigation into Keith Williams' death was hampered by a lack of witnesses coming forward with information. In the wake of his death, family and friends held a vigil to honor his memory and to encourage anyone with information to contact the authorities. The case remains unresolved, and the motive behind the shooting has not been publicly disclosed. Williams' death was recorded as the 99th homicide in Indianapolis in 2017.
