Mariah Jones, a 26-year-old resident of Gary, Indiana, was found dead in her home on October 19, 2017. Her body was discovered by police officers conducting a welfare check at her residence in the 200 block of Taft Place. The officers found the door to her home open and discovered her body in a bedroom. The Lake County Coroner's Office declared her dead at the scene and ruled her death a homicide. Mariah Jones had been fatally shot, and her death was a result of gun violence.
