In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Indianapolis, a burst of violence in a parking lot on the northeast side of the city cut short the life of Delmar Harrell. On May 22, 2018, the 24-year-old male was found with multiple gunshot wounds near the intersection of 21st Street and North Post Road. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 a.m., also left a woman in her 20s injured with a gunshot wound to her foot.
Both Harrell and the female victim were quickly transported to Eskenazi
Hospital for medical attention. While the woman was listed in stable condition, Harrell's injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The shooting cast a somber shadow over the community as another young life was lost to gun violence.
