In the summer of 2018, the life of 19-year-old Adonai Spinks, a Black male from Indianapolis, Indiana, was cut short by gunfire. On the evening of June 27th, Spinks was at a basketball court in an apartment complex in Lawrence, a community on the outskirts of Indianapolis. It is believed that he was intentionally lured to this location where he was then shot multiple times.
The violence of that evening also claimed the life of another young man, 23-year-old Dalon Marquise
Wilson-McIntosh, who was an innocent bystander caught in the deadly crossfire. Investigators have determined that Adonai Spinks was the intended target of the shooting. Family members shared that Spinks had graduated from high school the year prior and had unfortunately started associating with a dangerous crowd, which they believe may have led to his tragic death.
The loss was particularly devastating for the Spinks family, as this was the second time in two years that they had lost a loved one to gun violence. The Lawrence Police Department has been actively investigating the double homicide, but as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of Adonai Spinks and Dalon Marquise Wilson-McIntosh. The case remains open, and authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible. The lack of closure has left the families and the community awaiting justice for the two young lives lost that day.
