On February 21, 2014, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the 2400 block of Stuart Street on the city's near northeast side. Upon arrival, they discovered 27-year-old Michael DeShawn Whitfield deceased in the kitchen of a residence, having suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
