In the spring of 2014, tragedy struck an Indianapolis family for the second time in as many months with the death of Carlos Darnell Jefferson Sr. The 43-year-old man was found shot in a driveway on the northeast side of the city on April 24, 2014. Reports from the scene indicated a violent encounter, with witnesses hearing between 20 and 30 gunshots.
