On a tragic day in April 2015, the quiet of a Canon City, Colorado, RV park was shattered by violence that left two people dead. Marsha Watson, a 60-year-old female, lost her life on April 14th at the Canon City RV Campground. The incident unfolded as a murder-suicide, with law enforcement responding to reports of gunfire at the location on East Main Street.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Marsha Watson deceased outside of an RV.
The suspect, her 72-year-old husband Stanley Watson, had barricaded himself inside their motor home. A standoff with police ensued. During this time, Stanley Watson reportedly took to social media, posting on Facebook that he had killed his wife and the couple's dog. He also expressed a desire for the police to end his life.
The standoff concluded when Stanley Watson emerged from the RV, reportedly firing weapons he held in both hands. He was then shot and killed by law enforcement officers at the scene. The Fremont County Sheriff's Office, including a SWAT team, had responded to the incident.
