On October 12, 2024, Charles Lovelady Jr., a 28-year-old African American man from Indianapolis, Indiana, was fatally shot during a violent incident near Indiana University Indianapolis. The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Indiana Avenue, involving an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles.
