In the early morning hours of August 5, 2018, a grim discovery was made in the parking lot of the Broadmoor Country Club Apartments in Merrillville, Indiana. Inside a parked car, police found the bodies of 18-year-old Jamar Harris and 16-year-old Rickey J. Nelson. Both young men, who were from nearby Gary, had been fatally shot. The Lake County Coroner's Office would later confirm that both deaths were the result of homicide.
