On October 17, 2018, at approximately 4 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a residence near 36th and Rural streets on the city's east side. A resident had returned home to discover 28-year-old Mark Stokes deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The Marion County Coroner's Office confirmed the cause of death as homicide.
