In the quiet town of Grandview, Indiana, a domestic disturbance shattered the peace on a Wednesday afternoon in March 2019, leaving a 64-year-old woman dead. Linda F. Bowman was found deceased in her home on North Highland Road on March 6, 2019, the victim of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities were called to the residence around noon following a 911 call reporting shots fired during an ongoing domestic dispute.
Inside the home, they discovered Bowman's body and her live-in boyfriend, 52-year-old Alan Lee Bennett, who was suffering from a serious, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Bennett was flown to a hospital for medical treatment and was taken into the custody of the Indiana State Police upon his recovery.
The investigation into Bowman's death quickly focused on Bennett as the primary suspect. Investigators determined that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between the couple. Just two days after the shooting, on March 8, 2019, Alan Lee Bennett was formally charged with the murder of Linda Bowman.
Following his arrest, Bennett faced legal proceedings for the death of his girlfriend. He was later convicted of murder and sentenced to 65 years in the Indiana Department of Correction. An appeal of his conviction was subsequently rejected by the Indiana Court of Appeals. The tragic event left Linda Bowman's family, including her mother and brother, heartbroken and the small community of Grandview in shock.
