In the spring of 2022, the life of 31-year-old Kara Frederick was tragically cut short in a violent act that also claimed the life of another. On March 24, 2022, Frederick and 68-year-old David Macke were found deceased inside a residence on North Saint Joseph Avenue in Evansville, Indiana. The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office later confirmed that both had died from gunshot wounds to the chest, ruling their deaths a double homicide.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly
pointed to one primary suspect: 30-year-old Samuel Aaron Robb of Valparaiso, Indiana. Authorities discovered that Frederick, Macke, and Robb had been at a local bar before returning to the home where the shooting occurred. On the night of the incident, Evansville police responded to a call of shots fired, where they discovered the bodies of Frederick and Macke. Three other females were present at the scene but were unharmed.
Law enforcement issued an alert for Robb and his vehicle. The following day, Indiana State Police located him at a hotel in Corydon. When they attempted to apprehend him, Robb fled, leading to a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when Robb's vehicle crashed. Officers found him deceased inside the car from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a suicide. With the death of the sole suspect, the investigation into the murders of Kara Frederick and David Macke was closed.
