In the early morning hours of December 5, 2019, the life of 37-year-old Christopher Lamont Martin was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting on the near-east side of Indianapolis. A Black male, Martin was discovered with gunshot wounds in the 2000 block of North Parker Avenue, near the intersection of East 21st and North Rural streets, after police responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot just before 1 a.m.
Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, but Martin’s
injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Authorities at the time stated that they believed the shooting was an isolated incident and that there was no broader threat to the public.
Despite the ongoing investigation, information regarding a motive or any potential suspects was not publicly released in the initial days following the incident. Law enforcement officials appealed to the community for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the IMPD Homicide Office or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
As of late 2025, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the murder of Christopher Martin. The case remains an open investigation, leaving his family and community awaiting answers and justice for his untimely death.
