In a tragic turn of events following a two-vehicle crash in Elkhart, Indiana, 49-year-old Kenneth Wayne Black lost his life on June 22, 2020. The male victim, born on September 14, 1970, was fatally shot in an altercation that ensued after the collision.
The incident led to the arrest of Allen Sage, who was 31 years old at the time. During legal proceedings, Sage admitted to shooting Black with a 9mm handgun.
He claimed that he acted in defense of his father, stating that Black had attempted to strike him. However, Sage also acknowledged that his actions were not justified and that he should have retreated from the confrontation.
In May 2021, Allen Sage pleaded guilty to the murder of Kenneth Black. As part of a plea agreement, he was sentenced to 65 years in prison, the maximum term for the charge. The agreement also included the dismissal of unrelated child molesting charges that had been filed against Sage after his arrest for the murder.
