In the early evening of November 19, 2020, emergency responders were called to the 4500 block of Jamestown Court in a residential area on the northeast side of Indianapolis. There they found Alphonzo Clinton Easley, a 33-year-old man, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Alphonzo, known affectionately as 'Fonnie' to his friends and family, was a manager at a local
Goodwill and was remembered for his strong work ethic. Born and raised in Indianapolis, he was a family-oriented man who enjoyed cooking, basketball, and football. His obituary described him as authentic, loyal, and someone who would bring humor to even the most troubling situations. He was a beloved son, fiancé, brother, and friend.
In the wake of the shooting, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and evidence, and the investigation was reported to be ongoing. However, in the years that have followed, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the murder of Alphonzo Easley. The case remains unsolved, leaving his loved ones without answers and a community still searching for justice. His family has pleaded for anyone with information to come forward, hoping to bring closure to the senseless act of violence that took his life.
