In the small town of Holton, Indiana, the life of 36-year-old Kristina Mahalia Asche Jones was tragically cut short on January 10, 2021. A compassionate healthcare worker and devoted mother, she was found unresponsive in the bathroom of a residence on County Road 700 West. Authorities were called to the scene just after midnight, where they discovered that Jones had died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Her death was quickly ruled a homicide, launching an intensive investigation that would unravel a history of domestic abuse.
The investigation soon focused on Jordan Knudson, 36, who had been in a tumultuous two-year relationship with Jones. Evidence revealed a pattern of physical abuse, with reports indicating that Jones had suffered multiple episodes of being knocked unconscious by Knudson. Just a month before her death, in December 2020, Jones had sought legal protection and filed a protective order against him.
After a two-month-long investigation, detectives gathered enough evidence to present to the Ripley County Prosecutor's Office. On March 26, 2021, an arrest warrant was issued for Jordan Knudson on a charge of murder. He was taken into custody later that day at the Jennings County Courthouse, where he was appearing for an unrelated matter.
