In the early evening hours of July 2, 2021, on the northeast side of Indianapolis, the life of 34-year-old Kyle Scott-Neville, a Black male, was tragically cut short. First responders were called to the 3800 block of East 30th Street, near North Sherman Drive, around 7:00 p.m. following a report of a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a building.
Inside the car, they found Scott-Neville suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Homicide detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department began an investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. Investigators believe that Scott-Neville was driving when he was struck by gunfire, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash.
Detectives have indicated that they do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence. The investigation into the death of Kyle Scott-Neville remains ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the homicide. The police have encouraged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as they continue to seek answers for a community searching for justice.
