In the spring of 2020, a shooting on the northwest side of Indianapolis claimed the life of 32-year-old Devonte Daniels. The incident unfolded in the late afternoon of Saturday, May 23rd, in the 5200 block of Pinebrook Drive, near the intersection of Georgetown Road and West 52nd Street.
Responding to reports of a person shot at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived to find Daniels with apparent gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Devonte Daniels succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Marion County Coroner's Office later officially identified the victim as Devonte Daniels. Homicide detectives with the IMPD are actively investigating the case to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. As of now, details regarding any potential suspects or arrests in connection with the murder have not been publicly released. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the IMPD Homicide Office or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
