In the late hours of an August evening in Indianapolis, a domestic disturbance escalated into a tragic and fatal event that would claim the life of 41-year-old Iva Jean Anderson-Williams. The incident, which unfolded on August 11, 2021, at an apartment on Bayview Club Drive, began as a dispute between Anderson-Williams and 32-year-old Donald Williams.
The situation quickly turned violent when Donald Williams armed himself with a gun, taking Anderson-Williams and four juveniles hostage.
Three of the children managed to escape the volatile situation by climbing through a window, but Anderson-Williams and an 11-year-old girl were not able to get away. Both were shot and critically injured.
