On a late summer evening in Indianapolis, Indiana, the life of 20-year-old Kea’Asia Adonae Le Mae Grundy was tragically cut short. On August 30, 2021, the young woman was driving her Chevrolet Cruze in the 3400 block of North Sherman Drive when shots were fired into her vehicle. The incident, which occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m., left Grundy with fatal injuries.
Another passenger in the car, a 14-year-old, was also wounded in the attack but was listed in stable condition with minor injuries. First responders rushed both victims to a nearby hospital, but sadly, Kea’Asia Grundy was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide detectives immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. Their efforts led them to identify a 16-year-old male as the alleged suspect. On September 10, 2021, just over a week after the fatal shooting, the teenage suspect was arrested. He was taken into custody on suspicion of murder for the death of Kea’Asia Grundy and attempted murder for the injuries sustained by the 14-year-old.
