Jahnaya Bakare, an 18-year-old from Indianapolis, Indiana, tragically lost her life on October 12, 2021. She was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 2100 block of Wheatgrass Way, near East 71st Street and Harcourt Road. Despite being transported to the hospital in critical condition, she was later pronounced dead. The incident occurred late at night, around 11:30 p.m., and was one of two fatal shootings on the north side of Indianapolis that night.
