In the winter of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening quiet in an Indianapolis neighborhood, leaving a wake of sorrow and unanswered questions. On December 28th, 17-year-old Jaivin Hoskin was tragically killed in a triple shooting on the city's north side. The incident, which unfolded around 9:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of Rue De Margot Drive, also claimed the life of 22-year-old George Qualls III and left a third individual in critical condition.
When officers from the
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene near 71st and Michigan Road, they discovered two victims with gunshot wounds outside an apartment complex. Both Jaivin and George Qualls III were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim was located at a nearby gas station inside a vehicle that had been struck by bullets. This individual was rushed to a local hospital.
Investigators have stated their belief that the shooting was not a random act of violence, suggesting that the victims may have been targeted. Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been announced, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the deadly shooting.
Jaivin was remembered by his family and friends as a creative and talented young man. He had a passion for making and recording his own music and was also known for his artistic ability to sketch unique and custom shoe designs. He attended Warren Central High School and was cherished by his family and friends, who now mourn the loss of a young life full of promise.
