In the spring of 2022, the life of Sheridan Duke Tom Jr., a 32-year-old male, was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. On the afternoon of April 18th, police were called to a scene on East Werges Avenue, near South Keystone Avenue, where they discovered Tom's body lying in the grass outside of an abandoned house. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators soon pieced together the heartbreaking events that led to his death.
It was determined that Sheridan, a talented bass guitarist for various local metal bands and a dedicated community volunteer, had been intentionally lured to the desolate location. The motive behind this calculated act was robbery. He was tragically shot in the back during the encounter, and his assailants made off with only $160. Known for his giving heart and positive attitude, Sheridan was actively involved in helping others through organizations like 'Back on My Feet' and had even created workshops to support those at the Progress House.
The investigation into Sheridan's murder led to the arrest of three individuals. Noah Edwards, 23, Emily Kilgore, 22, and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile were taken into custody and charged in connection with the senseless crime. The arrests brought a small measure of solace to a grieving community and family who remembered Sheridan as a unique and loving soul, a 'big ball of light' who was taken from the world far too soon.
