Jasmine Malone, a 29-year-old woman from Cincinnati, OH, tragically lost her life on April 11, 2020. She was found shot in the back of the head inside a car along with Jeffrey Duke II, 33, in the Spring Grove Village neighborhood. Both victims were transported to UC Medical Center, where they succumbed to their injuries.
Cincinnati police arrested 27-year-old Dwayne Harris in connection with the double-homicide.
Harris was charged with murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. According to court records, Harris was seen on surveillance video leaving the scene with a firearm and returning to his apartment, which was located about three-tenths of a mile away from where the shooting occurred. The investigation revealed that Harris and the victims met for a low-level drug deal, during which Harris shot both Duke and Malone while in the back seat of the moving car.
The swift arrest of Harris brought some relief to the victims' families, although the motive behind the killings remains unclear. Harris was indicted by a grand jury and is currently held on $2 million bail. The case is ongoing, and authorities continue to investigate the incident.
