On November 18, 2024, 33-year-old Lacresha Renee Black was found deceased outside her residence on Lincoln Avenue in Springfield Township, Cincinnati, Ohio. Responding to reports of gunfire around 7 a.m., officers discovered Black with multiple gunshot wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified the primary suspect as 42-year-old Terea Denise Brown, who was reportedly Black's estranged wife.
The two had a tumultuous, on-again, off-again relationship and were married in December 2023. Following the shooting, Brown fled the scene in a dark-colored 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. A regional alert was issued to law enforcement agencies to locate her.
Later that morning, Indiana State Police spotted Brown's vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 65 in Clinton County, Indiana. When troopers attempted a traffic stop, Brown led them on a pursuit that ended near a gas station off State Road 28. As the situation escalated, a gunshot was fired from within Brown's vehicle, prompting troopers to return fire. Brown was found deceased inside the car; a firearm was recovered at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.
The tragic sequence of events has left the Springfield Township community in mourning. Neighbors expressed shock and fear, noting that such violence was unprecedented in their area. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and have urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
