Treasure Thomas, 22, a Black woman from Cincinnati, Ohio, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of June 9, 2025, inside an apartment on the 2000 block of Westwood Northern Boulevard in the Millvale/English Woods area. Police responded around 2:50–3:00 a.m. and found two victims with gunshot wounds; both were transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where Treasure Thomas, 22, died of her injuries, while a 21-year-old man survived in stable condition. Later that day, Cincinnati police arrested 24-year-old Malik Blanchard and charged him with murder in the killing of Treasure Thomas, 22.
In court the next day, an assistant prosecutor told the judge that an altercation at a party preceded the shooting and alleged that Blanchard retrieved a gun, fired through an apartment door, then entered and continued shooting, killing Treasure Thomas, 22. The prosecutor called him “an ongoing threat to public safety,” and the judge set bond at $1.5 million.
Within a week, a grand jury indicted Blanchard on eight counts in connection with the Millvale apartment shooting, including aggravated murder, murder, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, and improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation. In July, prosecutors announced a separate indictment against Blanchard for an unrelated killing six days earlier, emphasizing the cases were not connected; news reports and prosecutors said he remained in the Hamilton County Justice Center on the $1.5 million bond.
