In the early morning hours of May 25, 2022, the life of 20-year-old Desta Clark was tragically cut short in Bloomington, Indiana. The incident began to unfold around 5:55 a.m. when police received multiple reports of gunshots near the Woods at Lattimer apartment complex on the city's east side. Upon their arrival, officers discovered an apartment with its back door forcibly opened, but the residence was empty.
A search of the surrounding area ensued, and just after 7 a.m., an officer
found Desta Clark's body in a wooded area to the west of the apartment complex. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner's Office later ruled his death a homicide.
Investigators learned that two men wearing face coverings had kicked in the door of the apartment, chasing Clark out of the residence. They pursued him into the nearby woods where he was ultimately shot and killed. The suspects fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Bloomington Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Desta Clark. His mother, Michelle Massey, has spoken about her son's troubled past, acknowledging that he had faced challenges and had been involved with the law from a young age. However, she held out hope for him to turn his life around. His family and friends remember him as a sweet and caring individual. The case remains unsolved as authorities continue to seek information from the public.
