In the late hours of a Saturday in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the sound of multiple gunshots shattered the midnight quiet in the 300 block of West Rudisill Boulevard. When the echoes faded, a 20-year-old Black male named Tyshawn Lavette Eaton had been fatally wounded. Associates transported him to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, but he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The Allen County Coroner's office later ruled his death a homicide.
Known affectionately as 'Ty-Ty,' Eaton was a father to two sons and was remembered for his vibrant personality. He had a love for music, basketball, and spending time with his family and friends. Eaton attended Northrop High School and was in the process of obtaining his GED while working at Amazon to support his family. His death marked the 10th homicide in Allen County for the year 2022.
Fort Wayne Police were called to the scene near the intersection of Webster Street and West Rudisill Boulevard after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered numerous shell casings, evidence of the violence that had transpired. Investigators began working to piece together the events that led to the shooting.
