On June 12, 2022, Jonte Dorsey, a 34-year-old man from Joliet, Illinois, was tragically killed in a shooting at Playo's Nightclub in Gary, Indiana. The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. when Gary police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the nightclub located on the 1700 block of Grant Street. Upon arrival, officers found Dorsey near the entrance, unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
