George Leighton Pomraning Jr., a 26-year-old police officer with the Arlington County Police Department, tragically lost his life on September 2, 1973. Officer Pomraning was shot and killed while transporting a prisoner after making an arrest. The incident occurred near the intersection of 8th Street and South George Mason Drive in Arlington, Virginia.
