John Lee Martin, a 39-year-old deputy sheriff from Jonesville, VA, tragically lost his life on November 7, 1988, after being shot in the line of duty. Sergeant Martin was investigating a suspicious vehicle parked outside a building at approximately 3:00 AM when the suspect opened fire with a .44 caliber pistol.
