In the autumn of 1994, a horrific act of violence shattered the community of Richmond, Virginia, forever marking the memory of Daphne R. Jones. A 29-year-old Black/African American woman, her life was tragically cut short on October 14, 1994, in what became known as the Gilpin Court Massacre. The events of that day unfolded within the walls of her family's apartment in the Gilpin Court housing project, a place that should have been a sanctuary.
