Makayla A. Gregory, a 20-year-old woman from Ashland, Virginia, tragically lost her life on May 9, 2020, in a shooting incident in Richmond. The incident occurred in the East End neighborhood of Whitcomb Court. Police responded to reports of random gunfire and found a vehicle with damage from gunfire on Sussex Street. Near the vehicle, they discovered Makayla and another woman, both of whom had been shot. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, Makayla succumbed to her injuries.
