In the quiet community of Chesapeake, Virginia, the life of 40-year-old Joann M. Holmes, a Black female, was tragically cut short on Sunday, October 1, 2000. On that evening, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police officers were dispatched to her residence at 1107 Tatemstown Road after receiving a report of a person being shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Joann Holmes inside her home, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
