In the late summer of 2000, the life of Cassandra Church, a 29-year-old Black/African American woman, was tragically cut short. On the first day of September in Chesapeake, Virginia, Church was found the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Shillelagh Road, a detail that has been noted in the scant public records of her case.
