Joel U. Smithwick, Jr., a 20-year-old resident of Chesapeake, Virginia, tragically passed away on May 1, 2004. Joel, affectionately known as "The Brickman" due to his work as a bricklayer at Autumn Brix Blox, was a native of Williamston, North Carolina. He was well-regarded in his community and left behind a grieving family, including his mother, Penny.
