On a late summer evening in Richmond, Virginia, the life of Antonio Monte Dinkins, a 25-year-old Black man, was irrevocably altered. On September 7, 2012, in the 1900 block of Glenlea Avenue, Dinkins was shot. He was rushed to VCU Medical Center, where he fought for his life for six days before succumbing to his injuries on September 13, 2012. His death was classified as a homicide by the Richmond Police Department, marking the beginning of a long and so far unresolved investigation.
