Essence Thomas, a 17-year-old from Portsmouth, Virginia, tragically lost her life on November 4, 2014. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Weston Street, where Essence was found with severe head injuries resulting from a gunshot wound. Medics responded to a 911 call at approximately 12:41 p.m. and transported her to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
