Cody Clarence Kelly, a 20-year-old from Hampton, Virginia, tragically died on January 31, 2015, in Newport News, Virginia. The incident occurred at the Microtel Inn on Operations Drive near Patrick Henry Mall. According to reports, Cody was involved in an accidental shooting during a gathering at the hotel. Witnesses stated that Cody and another individual, Tyjuan Lamont Blockett, were playing with firearms, seeing who could draw their weapon the fastest.
