In the early evening of a Monday in Newport News, Virginia, the life of 28-year-old Theodore Dewayne Washington was tragically cut short. On March 9, 2015, in the 1500 block of Ivy Avenue, a dispute escalated to fatal violence. Washington was shot around 5:45 p.m. and succumbed to his injuries about an hour later. The altercation, the nature of which was not publicly detailed, was with a man police said he did not know.
