Monique Landis, a 26-year-old woman from Portsmouth, VA, was found dead on December 1, 2015, in an apartment on Gateway Drive. She had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The investigation into her death led authorities to Darryl Faine, who was later identified as the primary suspect. Faine left a note for his daughter, Adquena, claiming that Monique had accidentally shot herself while playing with a gun, which he was trying to take away from her.
