In the winter of 2015, the community of Petersburg, Virginia, was shaken by the sudden passing of Mark Lamont Barlow, a 27-year-old Black man known affectionately to his friends and family as 'Monte.' Born on March 12, 1988, his life was unexpectedly cut short on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
