Rex Gearheart, the superintendent of Bristol, Virginia Public Schools, was found dead on the night of May 26, 2016, at Breaks Interstate Park in Dickenson County, Virginia. Gearheart, who was 45 years old, was discovered by park officials after a maintenance employee reported hearing a gunshot near one of the hotel units at the park.
